Before It Was Now brings together photographic paper negatives exposed inside a room-sized camera obscura at Wolverhampton School of Art, projecting the city's ring road, alongside a live feed from a cardboard-box camera obscura capturing the same view.
Combining simple optical apparatus with digital technology, the work uses inversion, softness, and continual change to slow the act of looking.
It explores how images are shaped by light and duration, and how the present slips away as soon as it appears.
